The Settlers’ Story

Settlers Tavern, affectionately known as ‘Settlers’ or ‘The Tav’ by locals, has been a cornerstone of Margaret River’s vibrant culture since the 1970s. Initially built as a haven for the emerging surf culture of the area, it has evolved into a gathering place for a diverse mix of individuals, including local legends, world-class winemakers, winery crews, families, and travellers from around the globe.

For the past 20 years, Rob and Karen Gough have been the heart and soul of Settlers Tavern. Recognising the special allure of Margaret River, they have infused their passion for food, wine, and music into every aspect of the tavern. With a focus on family-friendly hospitality, Settlers offers a premium wine list boasting over 600 wines, 16 beers on tap, and a diverse menu crafted from fresh, local ingredients, ensuring there’s something to delight every palate.

Beyond its culinary and beverage offerings, Settlers is deeply committed to supporting its community. From promoting local musicians to sponsoring schools, sporting clubs, charities, and other worthwhile causes, the tavern serves as a hub for camaraderie and goodwill.

As Rob and Karen continue to steward Settlers Tavern, their legacy of excellence and community spirit will undoubtedly continue to flourish. Their unwavering dedication to providing exceptional hospitality, supporting local talent, and giving back to the community has solidified Settlers as more than just a tavern—it’s a beloved destination.

COMMUNITY

As Settlers Tavern continues to evolve and grow, Rob and Karen’s commitment to their community will remain steadfast.
