From the wine list: First wine by Charlotte Newton Local Winemaker, Margaret River.
Minimal intervention, exceptional fruit, small vineyard, southern end of Margaret River. Elegance, finesse, succulent, rich, mouth-watering acidity, balanced harmoniously with the fruit. Toasty, nutty core, subtle oak, mineral influences.
Exceptional fruit from the southern parts of Margaret River has been used to create the ChaCha 2018 Chardonnay. This is a wine that speaks of provenance, reflecting the pristine environment in which the grapevines are grown. Whole bunches of fruit have been hand-picked and gently pressed, then allowed to ferment naturally before a leisurely maturation in French oak barriques to add complexity and build the flavour profile.
Tasting Notes
This is a wine of elegance and finesse. The natural balance of the Chardonnay fruit dominates in this perfectly balanced wine that has been crafted with minimal intervention. It is medium-bodied with aromas of grapefruit, nashi pear, lemon curd, vanilla sponge cake and buttered toast. The palate is a delicious combination of rich, succulent pear and dew melon characters with a fine, mouth-watering acidity that balances harmoniously with the fruit. A toasty, nutty core with subtle oak and mineral influences frame the finish.
